Facebook got you flustered? SEO have you questioning your sanity? We’ve all been there. In the Non-Technical Tech Blog, we’ll explore easy fixes and step-by-step how-tos for your technical issues. No technical background required.
While working for the Indiana Pacers, I worked with a blogger who would post links to all his blogs on Facebook. Since he was not all that familiar with Facebook, the result was never as he envisioned. He would paste the link in Facebook, and Facebook would grab a Donatos pizza or the Pacers Kids Club banner ad every time.
Are you frustrated by Facebook’s thumbnail images choices?
No need to worry. There is a simple and quick fix to this problem.
2. Upload you Facebook thumbnail to your site.
3. Put this line of code in the
<head> of your html file on the page or pages you wish for it to appear.
If you are a WordPress user, you can go to the Appearance tab and click the Editor link.
Find the Header template and look for the <head> tag. Paste this
href="YOUR FACEBOOK Thumbnail Name Here.jpg"
/> before the head tag is closed
Note: Facebook usually picks up your new thumbnail within a day or two.
Now that you’ve made your custom Facebook thumbnail you can also set up custom description text.
To set up the description text simply add this line of code in the <head> area:
<meta name="description" content="Description Text Here" />
This code is not only good for Facebook and Twitter but for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The description tag tells the search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing) what your page or site is about. This tag is the most important tag you can use to help improve your SEO rank.
